What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make sites work, to remember your choices, and to understand how a site is being used. Similar technologies (such as local storage) work in much the same way.

How we use cookies

This website is intentionally kept simple. As built, it uses only what is strictly necessary to serve pages and keep the site secure. It does not load third-party advertising or social-media trackers, and our fonts are hosted on our own server rather than pulled from a third party — so your visit isn't shared with font or ad networks.

When you first visit, we show a short notice confirming this. When you dismiss it, we store a single small flag in your browser's local storage (ct_cookie_ok) so the notice doesn't reappear on every page. This flag is purely functional, stays on your device, and is never used to track you or shared with anyone.

Cookies you don't have to consent to

"Strictly necessary" cookies don't require consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), because the site can't function properly without them.

If you add analytics, advertising or embeds later

Important: if you later add Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, embedded maps, YouTube videos or any advertising/marketing scripts, those set non-essential cookies. UK law (PECR) then requires a consent banner that loads those scripts only after the visitor agrees — and this page must be updated to list them. Ask your developer to wire this up at the same time.

Managing cookies

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site working.
